Inspiration - This is the little spark that has evoked my latest project, it was a origami rabbit I had folded at the start of the college year. I stuck it on my board and forgot about it, it wasn’t till the end of the year when i packed up my stuff from the studio that i saw it again. The sun had faded the orange paper to yellow leaving a fuzzy circle where the magnet had held it.

I’m repeating this in my studio on purpose, leaving it exposed to the sun in the three months before I go back. This time using a A2 sheet of purple paper, which i hope will fade to a light pink or blue. I’m blocking the paper from the sun by using thick card, leaving the areas underneath as purple. As the process continues i’ll see how the colors changes, if I like a shade that’s formed I will cover it to keep it from further fading.

The idea I have for the image is a sort of landscape, based on old Japanese screens and they’re intricate patterns ~ matt black..

'senbazuru'

This is a video of my classmates walksinareverie’s end of year piece, hung in a secluded woods near our college. Please enjoy and follow him if you like his work.

‘senbazuru’ is a group of a thousand origami paper cranes held together by string, japanese legend says that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes is granted a wish.

What’s In A Name..

“What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet” ~ Romeo & Juliet

So I decided that I should give my photographs proper titles instead of the generic numbering system I’ve used so far, might take me a while but I hope to complete them all this week.

I came to the decision to title my work, based on this exhibition I went to in London. It was a Poetography exhibition by Ron L Zheng. Where he took very beautiful and detailed photographs with a verse of poetry. The words gave the otherwise very ordinary photos a context and story, which it something I want to do with my photography. And although I would like to put some poetry with my work I dont think I’m prepared enough to do that at this point, but maybe in the near future.
